The US Oil & Gas Association, Mississippi/Alabama Division, formerly
the Mid-Continent Oil & Gas Association, was founded in 1944 by a group
of industry pioneers. These leaders recognized the potential for Mississippi
and Alabama to become major oil and gas producing states and the future
value of the petroleum industry to economic growth in this region. Today, Mississippi and Alabama are major energy states as the association and its member companies continue to work to supply energy and energy solutions.
US Oil & Gas Association provides the industry with representation
in legislative, regulatory and public affairs, and serves as a resource
on technical matters. The association is an effective advocate for the
growth and protection of the energy industry in Alabama, Mississippi
and adjacent federal and state offshore areas.
The Mississippi/Alabama
Division is one of four autonomous divisions affiliated with the US Oil & Gas
Association in Washington, D. C. The other divisions are in Texas, Louisiana
and Oklahoma.
The association membership represents all segments of the industry including
major oil and gas companies, independent oil and gas producers, refineries,
natural gas and petroleum products transportation and distribution companies,
natural gas generation companies, and other firms and individuals involved
in the industry.
