Please make your plans to join us for the Association’s 2007 Oil and Gas Forum in October. The Association is returning to the Grand Hotel, the host for so many memorable industry meetings over the years. Built in 1847, the historic Grand Hotel is a 550 acre resort overlooking beautiful Mobile Bay. The 2007 Forum will feature two general sessions on the mornings of October 18 and 19. The Association will be making the presentation of the 2007 Bill and Emmett Vaughey Wildcat Award during the meeting. In addition to several social functions, there will be an industry golf scramble on the afternoon of October 18 at the Lakewood Golf Course, completely renovated in 2005 and 2006 and now managed by the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
We are very pleased to announce that included among our speakers is Bill Berry, Executive Vice President, Exploration and Production for ConocoPhillips. Bill is a native Mississippian who began his career with Phillips. Bill has served the Company in assignments all over the world. Gareth Roberts, President and CEO of Denbury Resources, will also join us for the Forum. Gareth founded Denbury and has over 30 years experience in exploration and production. Brad Leach, Vice President of Research for the NYMEX, will also be a speaking to our industry group. Brad joined the Exchange in 1986 and was responsible for developing the natural gas Henry Hub futures contract, a NYMEX benchmark contract.
In addition, Mike McKenna with MRW strategies in Washington will discuss current activities and trends at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Mike works on behalf of energy companies with FERC and other agencies involved in energy policy. Dudley Hughes with Hughes South Companies will examine the facts and fiction on carbon dioxide issues relative to the debate on global climate change. Dudley has studied this subject for over ten years and has had numerous articles published on the matter. Wayne Gibbens with the Washington office of US Oil and Gas Association will provide his usual insights on Congressional and national political matters affecting the industry.
